Journalist and author Ta-Nehisi Coates, burned by the glare of New York’s real estate press, has re-listed the Prospect-Lefferts Gardens townhouse he bought last month.
The “Between the World and Me” author and recipient of a MacArthur “genius” grant is selling his three-story, five-bedroom brownstone at 207 Lincoln Road, asking $2.4 million, $300,000 more than he paid for it in April, the New York Post reported.
In an article he penned in the Atlantic magazine, Coates, a former resident of the neighborhood, expressed shock that The Real Deal and other news outlets published his new street address. He pledged to leave the house, citing concerns about his and his family’s security.
“You can’t really be a black writer in this country, take certain positions and not think about your personal safety,” he wrote.
Pablo Cuevas of Douglas Elliman has the listing, according to StreetEasy. [NYP] — Ariel Stulberg
