Wenner Media, publisher of Rolling Stone and Men’s Journal magazines, nixed its plans to relocate to Dumbo, opting to remain in Manhattan’s Plaza District.

The publisher is based at Vornado Realty Trust’s [TRDataCustom] 1290 Sixth Avenue, but was in talks to take as much as 70,000 square feet at new office complex Empire Stores.  Those plans have now been scrapped, Gus Wenner, who runs the company’s online operation, told Bloomberg.

The publisher is finalizing a $100 million deal to sell Us Weekly to American Media, and with fewer employees, the relocation is no longer necessary.

Last year, advertising firm 72andSunny signed for 50,000 square feet at Empire Stores. Earlier this month, BIG-Bjarke Ingels Group formalized its plans to move to Dumbo, inking a 50,000-square-foot lease with Two Trees Management’s 45 Main Street.  [Bloomberg]Miriam Hall
