Google takes another 60K sf at Vornado and Related’s 85 10th Avenue
Search giant now has 240K sf at building
Google has gobbled up even more space in the Meatpacking district.
The internet search giant leased another 60,000 square feet at 85 10th Avenue, Vornado Realty Trust’s CEO Steve Roth said during an earnings call Tuesday. That brings Google’s total footprint at the building to 240,000 square feet.
Vornado owns 50 percent of the 11-story office building, which spans 635,000 square feet. The Related Companies, which purchased the building from Somerset Partners in 2007 for $430 million, owns the other half.
Average asking rents for Class A office space in the area are $133.98 per square foot, according to a recent report from Colliers.
Google agreed to lease 180,000 square feet at the building in 2014. The tech colossus is the Meatpacking district’s largest tenant with about 2 million square feet of office space spread across four buildings, including its headquarters at 111 Eighth Avenue.
Last month, Google was reported to be among the tenants considering leases at Brookfield Property Partners’ Manhattan West development, which has 1.3 million square feet available.
In late 2015, Google signed a 15-year lease for 250,000 square feet at RXR Realty and Youngwoo & Associates’ [TRDataCustom] Pier 57 development.
