Veteran office leasing executive Mark Jaccom has left the brokerage JRT Realty Group for the investment firm Walter & Samuels, where he will serve as director of leasing and brokerage.

The 62-year-old had only spent a short amount of time at JRT, where he started in April after leaving a job as a manager at Cresa New York. Previously, he worked at Colliers International and Savills Studley.

Jaccom told Commercial Observer his interest in the Walter & Samuels job is “learning how to buy properties.”

“My whole [career] of 40 years I’ve been doing peddling for landlords,” he said. “I want to own property. [Walter & Samuels Chairman] David [Berley] and I will start buying buildings together.”

Jaccom’s four-person team at JRT, including former New York Giants tight end Howard Cross, is staying put. He said he did close to $2 million worth of business during his short time there.

JRT CEO Jodi Pulice said that if Jaccom wanted to expand into other aspects of real estate outside leasing, it made sense to make a move.

“We don’t do development,” she said. “We can’t invent development.”

Headquartered at 419 Park Avenue South, Walter & Samuels manages 50 commercial properties in New York City for a total of more than 3 million square feet. [CO] – Rich Bockmann
