Douglas Elliman’s Maggie Marshall, known for her stints on two of the firm’s top teams, has jumped ship to Compass.

Last year, Marshall partnered with Lindsay Barton Barrett to form the Barton Barrett Marshall Team, with aims of taking over more new development projects and growing their foothold in downtown Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Six months after teaming up, Barrett and Marshall replaced Elliman’s top-producing Eklund-Gomes Team as the co-head of sales at Fortis Property Group’s Olympia Dumbo, a waterfront condo development vying for the title of Brooklyn’s priciest property. Barrett, Marshall and their team member Lena Lerner led marketing alongside the Heyman Team with Sotheby’s International.

But the two quietly went their separate ways in January, a move Marshall described as amicable. Barrett declined to comment on their split.

Now after more than 15 years at Elliman, Marshall is setting up shop with Compass, where she plans to build a team of her own. She attributes her move to wanting a “fresh start” and said she chose Compass for its network of agents focused on new development in the city and its tech platform, which the firm often touts as a major recruitment draw.

Marshall declined to comment on whether she was bringing on any team members from Elliman. She said she plans to start filling out her roster of listings in the fall.

A spokesperson for Elliman said the firm was “grateful for Maggie’s contributions” and wished her the best.

Before joining Barrett, Marshall served as the director of operations for Elliman’s De Niro Team, which at the time ranked 38th in The Real Deal’s analysis of the city’s top resale brokers.

After going solo earlier this year, Marshall represented the buyer in a deal for a penthouse at 36 Bleecker Street, which closed for $18.5 million last month. She also brought the buyer for Unit No. 3 at 201 North 11th Street, which sold for $4 million in April.

Marshall’s move comes on the heels of other Elliman agents also joining Compass, including Tim Malone. After 20 years with Elliman, the Zweben Team, founded by former restaurateur Paul Zweben and his wife Carolyn, also went to Compass.
