The Agency is opening its fifth Texas office, in the Alamo City.

Mauricio Umansky’s luxury real estate brokerage is bringing on Miguel Herrera to lead the office as a managing partner, according to a news release.

Herrera was a vice president at Coldwell Banker Global Luxury and president of his own brokerage, Miguel Herrera Luxury Lifestyle, before joining The Agency.

Headquartered in Beverly Hills, The Agency already has offices in Austin, Dallas, Frisco and Tyler. It launched 30 new offices last year and now has more than 130 offices in 12 countries.

The San Antonio expansion comes as luxury home sales surge statewide.

The number of million-dollar homes sold in Texas from November 2023 to October 2024  jumped 10 percent from the same time period the previous year.

Luxury home sales in San Antonio-New Braunfels made up more than 5 percent of the state’s million-dollar home sales, the San Antonio Express-News reported, citing Texas Realtors.

Umansky made headlines last year when he tossed his weight behind an alternative to the National Association of Realtors in the wake of antitrust litigation against the organization.

He and New York-based Compass agent Jason Haber are forming a new trade group, the American Real Estate Association. Umansky and The Agency’s Chris Dyson built a nationwide listings database, the National Listing Service, for the organization.

The Agency is the subject of Netflix reality show “Buying Beverly Hills,” which was filmed for two seasons. The show explores life at the company, which employs Umansky’s three daughters.

Umansky is the ex-husband of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards.
