This week in celebrity real estate: James Franco makes profit on Silver Lake duplex, Kathy Griffin sells Hollywood Hills mansion… and more

It may be a short week for most this week, but that didn’t stop Hollywood’s elite from making their rounds on their favorite homes. Kathy Griffin, who’s been gracing the headlines for her crude sense of humor for quite some time now, took the lead this week with her long time coming sale of her Hollywood Hills mansion. The property finally sold for $4.5 million after she axed (in Kathy Griffin style) $1 million of its asking price. The “D-lister” comedian paid $2.85 million for it in 2004. Andrew Vargas and Steve Frankel of Coldwell Banker had the 8,100-square-foot, five-bedroom listing.

“Superbad” actor-turned- “The Deuce” producer James Franco sold his Spanish-style duplex on Hidalgo Avenue in the trendy Silver Lake for $1.35 million. That’s roughly $400,000 above asking and nearly double what he paid for it in 2012, when he bought it from the “Mad Men” costume designer. The home includes two bedrooms and two bathrooms within 1,500 square feet of living space. Andrew Morrison of Redwood Real Estate Brokerage had the listing, while Imraan Ali of Compass secured the buyer.

Alfred Molina, actor on “Feud,” offloaded his 4,420-square-foot home at North Orange Grove in Hollywood’s Sunset Square for $2.8 million this week. Unlike Franco’s home flip, Molina was forced to sell his property below the $2.95 million asking price. The Traditional home includes five bedrooms, five bathrooms, a wood-clad library, sun room and garden. Jackie Fiske of Compass represented Molina while David Fowler of Re/Max Estate Properties found the buyer.

Up in the valley, comedian Wayne Brady is hoping to make a deal on his 4,200-square-foot estate at Beverly Glen Terrace in Sherman Oaks. The “Let’s Make A Deal” game show host is asking $3 million for the single-story residence, which includes five bedrooms, five bathrooms, a swimming pool and a wet bar. Laura Piller Plourde of Rodeo Realty holds the listing for the “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” series regular.
