Just months after its debut, “Buying Beverly Hills,” a reality television show starring Mauricio Umansky of The Agency, has gained renewal for a second season on Netflix.
The docusoap charts the highs and the lows of Umansky and his team wheeling and dealing luxury properties on their home turf, Beverly Hills. The town also is the headquarters of The Agency, which Umansky co-founded in 2011.
Netflix gave no details on when season 2 of “Buying Beverly Hills” will stream, or how many episodes it ordered, according to a story first reported by Inman.
Umansky announced the return of “Buying Beverly Hills” on ABC network’s “Good Morning America” show. Season 2 of the series also was announced on The Agency’s blog.
At a November 2022 party for the debut of the show, Umansky told his colleagues who were scheduled to appear on screen that if they had not appeared on TV before, they would have to be prepared to be public figures.
“People will love you. People will hate you. People will have an opinion on everything you do from now on,” he said in public comments published by The Real Deal.
Umansky’s business book The Dealmaker was released earlier this month.
At the show’s debut party, Umansky promised that “Buying Beverly Hills” would talk about the work of real estate, not just parties and tours through luxury homes. Season 1 plot lines included a cast member challenging Umansky about a commission split the cast member considered unfair. Also in the show, The Agency’s Jon Grauman secured the listing for La Fin, a $139 million mansion in Beverly Hills.
“Buying Beverly Hills” is not the only real estate reality show coming back for a second season. Also making a return is “Kendra Sells Hollywood,” which follows media personality Kendra Willkinson’s start of a real estate career with Ernie Carswell & Associates at Douglas Elliman. Filming for season 2 wrapped in December. It will probably start airing in May on the new Max network, according to a source who declined to be named.
