The 8,748-square-foot house was built in 1938. Property records show the Herds made improvements to the home, including an interior remodel and bedroom addition in 2008. They also added a gazebo, concrete dock and boat lift.

The property was first listed in 2014 for $14.5 million, and was most recently asking $8.5 million in January.

Julie Jones-Bernard with Florida Luxurious Properties represented the Herds, and Carroll represented Johnson.

The six-bedroom, seven-and-a-half-bathroom mansion sits on a 0.8-acre lot with 384 feet of water frontage.

The property also features a theatre, wine cellar, a pool and a guest suite above the garage.

Recently in Fort Lauderdale, the founder of restaurant chain BurgerFi sold his waterfront mansion for $7 million, and the president of a pharmaceutical development and manufacturing company sold his waterfront Seven Isles mansion for $12.8 million.
