The largest project to get permits in January in Brooklyn was the PS/IS 338 School in Kensington. The school will measure 92,000 square feet and was designed by Purcell Architects. Monadnock Construction and Signature Urban Properties’ permit to begin work on 530 Exterior Street was the Bronx’s largest in January. Plans call for 157 rental apartments over 142,000 square feet. Sam Chang has built more hotels in Midtown than probably anyone else, but in January he got the thumbs up to start on a new 100-key hotel slightly south at 111 East 24th Street in the Flatiron District. The top project in Queens by size in January came from storage builder Madison Development, who are planning a 174,000-square-foot facility at 31-07 20th Avenue in Astoria. Other top Queens projects to get permits include a Buddhist temple near Sky View Parc in Flushing and a 60-key hotel in Jamaica. See them all here.
